The Maligne Valley is a wildlife hotspot that makes for a beautiful drive. This half-day tour with Maligne Adventure feels natural for those visiting Jasper without a vehicle. We love the tour as it hits some of our favorite spots in Jasper, such as Maligne Canyon, Medicine Lake, and the Maligne Lake cruise. The cruise is one of our highlights in all of the Canadian Rockies.

The drive along the lake is a prime spot to see moose, eagles, bears, and elk. A knowledgeable guide knows the prime areas along the drive to spot the wildlife and does their best so every tour sees something. Of course, it is nature, and we’re dealing with wildlife, so spotting is never guaranteed. Regardless of whether you spot wildlife, you likely won’t be disappointed.

Natasha On Maligne Lake Cruise

This tour is best reserved for those visiting Jasper without a vehicle. A knowledgeable guide is helpful, but making the same stops and booking your tickets for the Maligne Lake Cruise is far more affordable. Drive the speed limit down Maligne Lake Road, and you’ll likely spot wildlife. We’ve seen everything driving the road, including bears, moose, and elk. You’re most likely to spot eagles along Maligne Lake as they largely hunt fish in bodies of water.

We're Cameron and Natasha

We've been writing about travel for the last decade. In 2018, we settled in the Canadian Rockies, one of the most beautiful places on earth.

Now, we live in Canmore and spend as much time as possible exploring and hiking around Banff. It’s one of the most spectacular areas and the perfect place for an outdoor vacation.

We aim to help you get the most out of your trip to Banff National Park and the surrounding areas. Learn more about us here. If you've found our website helpful for planning, please consider booking some of our recommendations or supporting our work here.
