Where to Get the BEST Views of the Three Sisters in Canmore

The Three Sisters Mountains – individually known as Big Sister, Middle Sister, and Little Sister – or Faith, Hope, and Charity, respectively, symbolize not only the town of Canmore, but all the Canadian Rockies.
They are one of the most unique mountain features in the area, and throughout the centuries, they have been photographed by famous and amateur photographers alike. If you visit Canmore, you’ll likely want to photograph them, too! Here are our favorite spots to view and photograph the Three Sisters.
Three Sisters Photo Viewpoint

The Three Sisters Viewpoint is often considered the best place to photograph the Three Sisters. The area can be found across the street from the town’s off-leash dog park.
Park at the off-leash dog park, cross the Bow Valley Trail road, and go under the train tracks, and you’ll find a faint path leading you to the photo point in about five minutes. Get there early in the morning or in the evening for awesome creek reflections.
Three Sisters Pathway

The trail is a mix of gravel and paved paths that follow the Bow River downstream to the Three Sisters neighborhood. We like to ride our bikes down this path and take in the views!
Canmore Pedestrian Bridge

A can’t miss spot in Canmore to take in the beautiful views of the Three Sisters and Ha Ling Peak.
6th Avenue and Main Street
Look toward the Tin Box, and you’ll see a great street view.
Wind Ridge Hike

This hike leads away from Canmore as you leave the Bow Valley and head into the West Wind Valley. Once you get to the end of the Ridge, you’ll be treated to epic views of the backsides of the Three Sisters.
Benchlands Ridge Trail

Benchlands Ridge is a natural trail that offers great views over Canmore. Multiple benches allow you to sit with a packed lunch or a good book.
Lady Macdonald Teahouse

This is a popular trail for locals, but beware that it is steep – climbing over 1000 meters. You’ll definitely work for these views as you huff your way to the top of the trail.
Horseshoe Loop Trail
Horseshoe Loop is an easy walking trail in Canmore, but it is also super popular with mountain bikers, trail runners, and even equestrians.
Canmore Reservoir

A great place to head on a beautiful summer day – is the Rundle Forebay Reservoir (Canmore Reservoir). Take the paddleboards out to paddle under Ha Ling Peak, with great views of the Little Sister and a bit of the Middle Sister too!
Quarry Lake

Head to Quarry Lake and walk the trail around the lake. You’ll have an impressive view of the Little Sister for nearly the entire time.
Heli Tour

It’s one of the best things to do in Canmore, and the most expensive way to see the Three Sisters. However, we recommend a heli ride with Alpine Helicopter Tours if you can swing it. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to give you a unique view of the sisters. If you go in the summer, you may even see a few scramblers on top of Big Sister.
The Malcolm Hotel

The views from the outdoor pool of the luxurious Malcolm Hotel are ones that you won’t ever get sick of.
