Policeman’s Creek Boardwalk in Canmore

One of the best walking trails in Canmore is the quick and easy Policeman’s Creek Boardwalk! The raised boardwalk along Policeman’s Creek is a quintessential scenic walk that will take you from Downtown Canmore to the Malcolm Hotel and back. It’s accessible all year round and is great for viewing birdlife.
This short stroll is an excellent way to pass 20-30 minutes and is ideal for those with strollers or mobility issues.

There is no elevation gain, but the trail still covers some distance, making it a nice way to get those steps in. If you need a break, there are also a few benches along the trail.
Start the Trail at the Big Head

The best place to start your walk along the Policeman’s Creek Boardwalk trail is to start at the Big Head in Downtown Canmore near The Drake Hotel. The trail starts across the street from the Big Head – it’s very hard to miss!

Follow the trail until you can take a right to walk across the pedestrian bridge, where you’ll pass a replica of the old Canmore Opera House. Then, continue towards the Malcolm Hotel. Pop in for a coffee at The Pulse and continue your walk on Spring Creek Drive, opposite where you just walked from. If you keep walking, you will eventually end up on Main Street again.
