Is the Golden Skybridge Worth Visiting?

The Golden Skybridge is a 426-foot suspension bridge over a fantastic canyon with views across the Columbia Valley. Here, there are two suspension bridges that are the highest in Canada. It’s a popular summer attraction for those that want to experience the thrill of walking over a canyon.
As you walk the bridge, you’ll have fantastic views of Hospital Creek crashing below you, and the experience really puts into perspective the beauty of your area. However it’s not just suspension bridges here. Oh no – the whole family can enjoy at least a half day here exploring all the thrilling attractions.
In addition to the bridges, there’s a fun zipline, super-fast mountain coaster, and ropes course. For those who really seek a thrill, there’s also an adrenaline-pumping canyon swing!
This outdoor entertainment center is popular in Golden and a great family-friendly activity in the mountains. However, at a $45 starting base, it’s not the most affordable thing to do in the mountains, especially for a family. Additionally, it’s not near the Town of Banff, where many visitors base themselves. So, is the Golden Skybridge worth the cost and effort to get there? We’ve been there many times, so let’s break it down.
Is the Golden Skybridge Worth the Price?

The Golden Skybridge is similar to other main attractions in the area, like the Banff Gondola and Jasper Skywalk in the Rockies. It allows visitors access to the mountains they otherwise may not have the opportunity. A visit to the Golden Skybridge is quick, easy, and safe and provides excellent views. They keep adding more activities every year, making it a pretty active entertainment center in the mountains.
The Golden Skybridge is excellent for families and those with little experience in the mountains, and for visitors new to the mountains, the experience is more than worth it. At $45, it’s cheaper than other Pursuit attractions and is great for a family or those looking for a relaxing day. It would be easy for kids up to teenagers to spend a whole day at the Golden Skybridge and have a great time.
For the hardcore mountain person, I would skip the Golden Skybrige, as it is more geared for those with families and those not acquainted with do-it-yourself mountain adventures. If you have been on many hikes in the Rockies, you have likely seen grander vistas, but you know you have put the effort in to get to those viewpoints.
I love the Golden Skybridge’s location. It puts Golden, BC, more on the map as a tourist destination, pulling crowds away from the very crowded Lake Louise and Moraine Lake in Banff. It’s a great addition to any Banff itinerary and is just 45 minutes from Emerald Lake. We’ve been multiple times to the Golden Skybridge now and experienced all the activities on offer. Each time, we’ve walked away more than satisfied with our day!
Are the Extra Experiences Worth the Price?

The base $45 gives you access to the suspension bridges, but there is much more to do at the Golden Skybridge. There’s an axe-throwing area, the Railrider Mountain Coaster, Sky Zipline, Canyon Edge Challenge Course, a small climbing wall, and a giant canyon swing!

Of course, most of these experiences cost extra, so are they worth it? We’ve done every activity at the Golden Skybride, including the Giant Canyon Swing (unfortunately, no photo evidence exists because I definitely would have dropped my camera if I had it out).
If you do everything, including the Canyon Swing, you can easily spend $200 a person here. An extra $45 to the base admission gets you access to everything besides the Canyon Swing, or you can pay $70 and ride the mountain coaster multiple times.

I would say the full ticket is worth the price if you are treating this as a full-day excursion for the family and are new to any of these experiences. If you have kids who love adventure and ziplines, they’ll have a fantastic time here. The Adventure Pass, is bookable on Pursuit, and is where you can get most of these activities included with a hire entrance fee price. If you have plans to do many paid attractions in in Banff and Jasper, like the Banff Gondola, Lake Minnewanka Cruise, and Athabasca Glacier Experience, you may want to look into the Pursuit Pass.
That said, if you’re more of a do-it-yourself mountain person who already gets out on hikes often and has visited the Capilano Suspension Bridge in Vancouver, you may want to choose another activity. If you go to Jasper, we think the Maligne Lake Cruise is one of the best things to do in the Rockies!
Where to Book Tickets for the Golden Skybridge?

There are two main places to buy tickets. You can buy them directly on the BanffJasperCollection website. This website is run by Pursuit, the company that operates the Golden Skybridge. Or you can buy them on a third party like Viator. Viator only sells the base tickets – these are sometimes slightly cheaper than on Pursuit.
